The Destruction of Arisia Colony was an attack by the Shadows on the mining colony on Arisia III.^[1]

Marcus Cole, the colony's chief, was contacted by his brother, William, concerning these "Shadows" that were destroying colonies. Marcus did not pay attention to his warning, and so went about his business. He returned to the colony just as it was being attacked. He suffered damage that caused his ship to crash land on the surface of Arisia III.

He arrived to witness the total destruction of his home, as well as the death of his brother and a woman he was fond of, Hasina Mandisa.^[2] As the only survivor and with no expected help from the Earth Alliance^[3], he left Arisia III and went in search of these "Rangers" his brother was always speaking of.
