The Babylon Project
This article is about the human food. For the Shadow artifact, see: Egg

Eggs are an organic vessel in which embryos of various animals can form. On Earth, eggs of various animals have been used as food by humans for centuries. The most common eggs consumed by humans are those from chickens - which are large, round birds with small wings. Chickens were first domesticated in southeast Asia and eventually spread to other areas on Earth.

While eggs were still commonly consumed on Earth, it was nearly impossible to ship fresh eggs to outposts outside the solar system - such as Babylon 5 - before they would spoil due to the distances involved and the speeds of cargo vessels used to ship food.

In 2260, Commander Susan Ivanova helped Marcus Cole obtain an Identicard so he could make use of some of the station's services. He asked if there was anything he could do to thank Ivanova for her assistance, to which she replied, "Surprise me." Cole then obtained some fresh eggs and bacon, which was even harder to bring to B5, which he then arranged to be served to Ivanova for breakfast one morning. Ivanova consumed the eggs and bacon while Captain John Sheridan and Security Chief Michael Garibaldi looked on with envy.[1]
