Forum: Index > New policy and maintenance pages

I am going to start working on some new policy and maintenance pages for The Babylon Project. First on my list is creating a deletion process. We have a bunch of blank articles, and some blank templates. While I know I could easily enough just ask one of the admins to delete them, or be made an admin myself (just joking, unless you want to, I would love to be one eventually), but this is something we are going to need down the line eventually anyways. This seems as good a time as any to start.

I will also be working on a policy for creating new categories. At Memory Alpha, instead of letting just anybody create categories whenever they want, we have a category proposal system, and new categories must be approved under it. The disadvantage is a slower creation process, but this is out weighed in my mind by the advantage of not ending up with a category system like that at Wikipedia. They have dozens of categories for the same thing, not much of an organized tree, and articles with 10 categories (which just doesn't look good).

In these proposed pages, I will add a template to make clear that they are not yet approved policies or maintenance pages, but proposed one. You can take a look at them at {{ProposedPolicy}} and {{ProposedMaintenance}}. I figure we can discuss changes to the policies, and final approval of the pages, on their respective talk pages, with some overall discussion in the forums if necessary.

In the mean time, I am still going to continue making some of the changes to the category system. While those templates do say that the pages will not be in practice, I would suggest that we make some test uses of them. I will do that with the deletion pages, since I have some stuff in mind to be deleted. --OuroborosCobra talk Rangerpin 03:21, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I have started with The Babylon Project:Pages for deletion. To templates that need to go have been listed for deletion there, with those template pages marked with {{deletepage}}. --OuroborosCobra talk Rangerpin 09:40, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
