Forum: Index > We need a better way to communicate

I recently decided to come back to contributing to the wiki after a couple of years away because of one contributor who would undo edits, change various articles, and do other things that only appeal to this contributor. I do not see anything in the policies or in the style manual to suggest this is how things are done. I know this contributor has been a daily factor in keeping this wiki alive, so I commend that person, but it is unreasonable and rude to believe that they are the keepers of the wiki and we (as contributors) need to formulate to its style. There needs to be better communication from this person to the edit that is being focused rather than it be re-edited or undone because the contributor believes otherwise. I know this person has driven away many other contributors in the past and if we want this wiki to improve and draw more visitors and contributors, this person needs to communicate better and not just act alone.

Secondly, the scope of this wiki is to be a resource for Babylon 5 and its related material. So, we need to act as if a visitor wants to know something about a particular subject, then they should be able to see all relevant data and medium that reference that subject. --Farragut79 04:50, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

The style manual is chronically out of date, but since it's only been myself, Radagast, Octurion‎ and a few other editing with any kind of regularity for the past several years and since we all know what we're doing it's hardly been worth the effort. Until we get around to sorting it out you're just going to have to take my word for now. Blind Wolf 04:59, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

It seems to me that this wiki is almost bordering on a anti-newcomer and now the "new" polices and style manual are according to you. This is creating a hostile environment for new contributors especially if they butt heads with YOU, not them, and if you want more contributors then the administrators and YOU need to vocalize these new policies and the new style manual. In all honestly, as someone who has been contacted by at least four other contributors who have left in anger, this is not a public wiki. --Farragut79 05:06, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
