Grid Epsilon is the region of space in which Babylon 5 and Epsilon III were located, at coordinates 470 by 18 by 22.[1][2][3][4][5]
In 2258, Catherine Sakai came across a class 2 planetoid in Grid Epsilon at coordinates 471 by 18 by 25. The planetoid's atmosphere was too thin to sustain sentient life, but its mineral content included high levels of platinum, derinium, and any number of valuable materials.[6]

- Grid Epsilon was named by J. Michael Straczynski after the GEnie (General Electric Network for Information Exchange) online forum where Straczynski originally began posting messages regarding Babylon 5 some two years before ("The Gathering") first aired. The coordinates of Grid Epsilon refer to the specific GEnie forum (Page 470, CAT 18, Topic 22) where those original messages were posted.[7][8][9]
