The Babylon Project

Interlac was an artificial language and alphabet created as a common tongue for interspecies communication.[1][2][3]

Though widely recognised and relatively easy to translate, some races such as the pak'ma'ra and the Gaim are not able to make the vocal noises necessary to speak in Interlac and must instead use translator devices to communicate with other races.[4][5]

During training, Anla'Shok are expected to learn Interlac in addition to two other languages.[6]

The name "Interlac" is presumably a reference to the DC Comics universe, where Interlac is the common language of the 30th century United Planets, and was also the title of a well-known comics fanzine.
