Jeffrey Charles William Michael Conaway (October 5, 1950 - May 27, 2011) was an American actor and a native of New York City. Conaway appeared in the second season as the recurring character Zack Allan. He was promoted to the main cast at the start of the third season. He was best known for his role as Kenickie in the movie, Grease.
Personal Life[]
Conaway had a history of substance abuse. When Conaway relapsed, he appeared in VH1's Celebrity Fit Club but left the series to enter rehab. He returned in another VH1 series, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. The show revealed he was addicted to cocaine, alcohol, and painkillers.
On May 11, 2011, Conaway was found unconscious from what was initially described as an overdose of what was believed to be pain medication, and was taken to a hospital in Encino, California, where he was listed as being in critical condition and in a coma.[1]
On May 26, 2011, Conaway was taken off Life Support.[2][3] Conaway passed away the following day in Los Angeles at the age of 60.[4]
