“"I'm free. Don't...you understand? I'm free. There's no other way out."
- – Jenson's last words
Jenson was the previous owner of the Apocalypse Box. He owned it for a little over a year. In his words, at the time he acquired the Box, he was "different then."
He lost the box to Matthew Gideon in a poker game in 2265. When wagering the Box, he told Gideon that it was older than humanity, and briefly described the advantage it gives its owner. When he lost the game, he started laughing uncontrollably and said "It's over.... I don't have to..." He warned Gideon to be very careful because the Box sometimes lies. He seemed about to say more, when a sound from the Box stopped him. Jenson suddenly got up in fear and ran from the room.
Immediately after leaving the game, Jenson was hit by a skimmer in the alley and fatally injured. It is unknown if his death was suicide -- the skimmer driver claimed Jenson ran right in front of him, and Jenson refused medical help. Only as he lay dying did he admit to Gideon that death was the only way to be "free."[1]
