The Orion system, located in Sector 452 is a part of the Earth Alliance and home to Earth Colony 3. There are at least seven planets in the system, two of which are officially inhabited and one that is unofficially inhabited:-

Orion IV

Orion IV is the location of a planetary colony of the Earth Alliance.

Michael Garibaldi was once stationed at Orion IV and was where he met Walker Smith, in a Holopeep in Fortune City. He was later fired from his position due to circumstances related to his alcoholism.[1][2]

Orion VII

Orion VII is the location of a planetary colony of the Earth Alliance.

This planet along with Proxima III declared independence from the Earth Alliance in the summer of 2260 in protest of the bombing of civilian targets on Mars and in defiance of the Martial Law Decree set down by President Clark. [3]

Nothing else in known about how the planet fared during the civil war that followed. It is assumed to be still a colony after the war ended.

The symbiotic race call Vindrizi claimed that Flame birds existed on the planet at some point in the last half million years. [4]

Earth Colony 3

At 12:05 on April 3, 2251 Charles Dexter's sentence of Death of personality was carried out at Earth Colony 3. [5]

Theta 49

Theta 49 was thought to be uninhabited until 2267 when it was discovered to be the site of a small colony established by marooned slaves originally from Zander Prime. When the Qualtham, the vessel they were traveling on, was attacked by Shadow vessels in orbit around the planet, it was destroyed. The escape pods that survived the attack landed safely on the planet. Aside from Dureena Nafeel they may be the last surviving members of their species in the entire galaxy.

Some thirty cyber-enhanced Robert Black put down on the planet after escaping Earthforce. They unintentionally infected the local population with the Drakh plague after their food supplies had been deliberately tainted. When a group of them tried to escape the planet their ship was destroyed in orbit by the IAS Excalibur to keep the plague contained.

The official Earthforce and IPX reports filed by Matthew Gideon and Max Eilerson, respective, state that there is nothing of interest on Theta 49 and that all the humans were on-board their ship when it was destroyed. [6]
