The Babylon Project

Substance abuse, also known as drug abuse, was a patterned use of a substance in which the user consumed the substance in amounts or with methods which were harmful to themselves or others.

Commonly Abused Substances[]

  • Alcohol was a substance found in alcoholic beverages, produced by the fermentation of sugars by yeasts. Michael Garibaldi and Elizabeth Lochley battled with alcoholism for a number of years.
  • Dust was an illegal narcotic that temporarily increases the telepathic ability of the user, allowing them to commit a form of "telepathic rape."[1] Dust was manufactured and sold by the criminal underground, producing it in underground labs and selling it in both small and large quantities.
  • Morphozine was a medicinal drug used in medical emergencies, [2][3] though has been known to be used for recreation.[4]
  • Stims (short for stimulants) were extremely addictive. Withdrawal symptoms are severe, with fatigue, issues with concentration, and loss of sleep. Dr. Stephen Franklin began using them to maintain longer shifts, but quickly became addicted. Laura Rosen was addicted to them.
